Jomsom Muktinath Trek

Followers of both Hinduism and Buddhism regard Muktinath as a highly important pilgrimage site in Nepal. Nestled in the Northern Himalaya the trekking trail passes through the Annapurna Conservation area up to Jomsom, the admistrative center of Mustang district if we start the trek from Birethanti. Otherwise we can take early morning flight to Jomsom and begin trek along kali Gandaki gorge.

Itinerary of Jomsom Muktinath Trek

Day 01 Kathmandu 1350m.
You will be welcomed by our representative at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival, then transferred to hotel. Our representative will brief you the logistics of your different phases before dinner.

Day 02 Kathmandu 1350m.
You will be taken to sight seeing in world heritage places including Soyambhunath, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath by our tour guide, Preparation for rekking in the Evening. (If any stuff needed to be purchased for Trekking)

Day 03 Drive to Pokhara 850 m. 
After break fast drive to Pokhra it is opportunity to see different cultures on the way and drive to along the Tursuli River.

Day 04 Fly Phokhara to Jomsom and trek to Kagbeni 2800 m.
Early morning after breakfast fly to Jomsom (2720 m.) It takes 30 minuets. You can see spectacular view of Tilicho and Nilagiri Mountains. Then begin trek to Kagbeni along the gorge of Kaligandaki River which will be a gentle walk. It takes 3 and half hours to get Kagbeni. By the afternoon the stiff winds begin to blow and the day is an opportunity to visit Kagbeni monastery and Kagbeni village. Kagbeni is a main entrance gate to go upper Mustang. People have to register their permit as well.

Day 05 Kagbeni to Muktinath 3760 m. 
After breakfast begin the trek which takes approximately 4 hours. In the beginning the trail steeply ascends a couple of hundred meters. Then comes gradual walking where you can enjoy a beautiful desert landscape, Tibetan style houses, apple gardens, yak herds, sheep herds and so on. Then you get to Jharkot and you can see Thorongla Valley straight up to Muktinath. People who do the Annapurna circuit come from Thorongla Pass which is 5416m. If you want you can visit the Monastery in Jharkot. The Monastery belongs to Shakyapa and is known as a traditional medicine center. Then afterwards head towards Muktinath following a steeply ascending path for half an hour. Muktinath is an impotent pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. Here you come across a natural flame which is exhilarating. You can see a splendid view of Dhaulagiri (8165m.), Nilgiri (7061m.) and others. In the Temple you can see holy bath with 108 taps as well. Many domestic and international tourists come to visit here.

Day 06 Muktinath 3760 m. 
The day you can explore to the Muktinath and Thorangla Phedi.

Day 07 Mumtinath to Jomsom 2720 m. 
After breakfast we need to walk 6 hours to get Jomsom. This is all downhill till Kagabeni then we walk on flat ground along the Kaligandaki River.

Day 08 Fly Jomsom to Pokhara 850m.
After the break fast get in to the Airport it takes 30 minute to get phokhara. Afternoon you will have sight sightseeing in pokhara.

Day 09 Drive back to Kathmandu 1350m.
After break fast drive to Kathmandu it takes approximately 7 hours by Tourist Bus.

Day 10 Kathmandu 1350m.
Final day for relax, re-organise your bags, shopping in Kathmandu and Remember to re-confirm your flights.

Day 11 Fly back to Home. 
This is your final day in Kathmandu before catching your flight to home, ensure you have all the stuff packed and arrive at the airport in plenty of time, Fly to home.
